"What a brilliant experience". 'Travelling' living for a few years out of a suitcase - or panniers,as in my case. Travelling light with no excess bagage to lug around.

At first I thought that I may be being a little extravagant, leaving a possibly great career and earnings potential behind, just to satisfy some sort of whim of self indulgence. I now know that it was the right thing to do, to head off on a journey of self discovery, to open my mind and experience new things. There was nothing self indulgent about my decision.

At work I gave it my all, working as if there was no tomorrow, each day, week, month, I had to have something new in order to keep my mind satisfied. To stop my brain from turning into a stagnant heap of mush. At one point I thought that I maybe searching for something about myself that I hadn't yet discovered. But no, I already knew who and what I was. I already knew my strengths and weaknesses, the good points and yes, the bad points. I am content with who I am. Life is a great adventure, no one knows what the next day is going to bring. That uncertainty, to me is also the beauty of what life is all about.

Yes, the mode of transport may seem to some people a little strange, after all there are easier ways to get around. To a degree, I would have to agree, cycling can be hard work, but what a way to experience what life is like in other environments. A bicycle encourages, no, forces you to go out and meet the world face on. There is no hiding and there's not a lot you will miss. You can't go too far or too fast in a day - you jump in your car and travel 5 or maybe 700km in a day - on your bike it's more like 100 or 15okm in a day. You spend 6 or 7 hours in the saddle and only end up an hour down the road before you have to unload and go meet new people. There is no time for being shy or insecure.

I was talking to someone the other day, they had just bought a new house and had reserved themselves to the fact that, they will not be having a holiday for 25 years, or until the mortgage is paid off. Now to me, that is sad, sad that society encourages or makes people believe that this is what life is all about. Locking yourself into a contract which means, you don't own your life for that length of time and CAN'T afford a holiday. I think there should be an international law stating, that everyone of working age should visit a different country for two or three weeks every year. Paid for by the world bank of course... I personally would be the first to subscribe to such a scheme. Who's next?

"If you do things for the right reason, you will ALWAYS get the right result" is my philosophy. And I know that this journey is being carried out for the right reason.

Thanks for the visit
